Miami recognized for its inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the workplace

Miami University has been awarded an Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) Employer Partner of Inclusion Gold Award for 2019.

The award recognizes Miami’s commitment to the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the workplace and being a leader of diversity and inclusion best practices in Ohio.

To be considered for the award, a business must be an Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities employer partner that has hired at least five OOD job seekers in the one-year evaluation period.

The employer partner must also meet specific criteria that demonstrates their level of diversity and inclusion practices for individuals with disabilities in the workplace. They must have:

  • Established goals for diversity inclusion in the workplace.
  • Hosted disability awareness training.
  • Written a statement of commitment to diversity and inclusion that includes disabilities.

There are four levels of recognition: Champion, Platinum, Gold and Silver.
