Jaime Hunt has been named Miami University’s vice president and chief marketing and communications officer. She will begin her new role Sept. 1.

Hunt is currently the vice chancellor for strategic communications and chief communications and marketing officer at Winston-Salem State University.

Transformation has been a hallmark of Hunt’s career. In her 16 years working in higher education, she has been part of three university rebrandings, four website redesigns and in the development of an integrated marketing communications model at two institutions. She has extensive expertise in brand strategy, recruitment marketing, internal communications, crisis communications, issues management, online innovation and media relations.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Miami University’s remarkable community,” Hunt said. “I am looking forward to building relationships across campus as we work together toward the university’s strategic goals. We are at an important inflection point in higher education; it has never been more critical to have a strong brand that resonates with our stakeholders and conveys the value of the university. I am eager to collaborate with the exceptional students, faculty and staff at Miami to share the university’s unique story and further enhance its brand and reputation.”

In her current position, Hunt led the in-house development and rollout of brand messaging and an updated visual identity for Winston-Salem State University, a historically black constituent institution of the University of North Carolina.

She is currently the vice chair of the Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem and is the co-founder of the College Communicators of North Carolina.

Prior to her current role, Hunt served in marketing and media relations roles at Radford University, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and Northwestern Health Sciences University.

Her background also includes more than four years as a print journalist and three years working for nonprofits and in nonprofit consulting. She has presented at regional, national and international conferences on a wide range of marketing communications topics. Her work has earned 32 industry awards.

At Miami, she will lead a university communications staff who support communications analytics; external communications; licensing and trademarks; digital, marketing and creative services; news, media relations and internal communications; photography and videography; social media; and web design and development.

Miami President Greg Crawford said, “Jaime’s high-energy enthusiasm for communicating and marketing the value of higher education, along with her award-winning leadership, will help advance Miami University as a nationally-recognized, student-centered public university.”
