Bryan Chaney is honored for his quick action with an award from Miami University Police Chief John McCandless.

Hearing cries for help, Bryan Chaney responded and helped save a life of a student.

For his efforts, Chaney, who is a trades specialist with the department of physical facilities, received the Good Samaritan Award from the Miami University Police Department and the President’s Medallion from President Greg Crawford.

Chaney was completing work at Yeager Stadium in October when he heard the student’s distress cries. According to Miami Police Chief John McCandless, Chaney “went above and beyond” in helping officers locate a student who was injured and lost in the woods. Chaney was the first to find the student.

“Without Chaney’s quick actions, the fate of the student could have been much worse,” said McCandless.

The Good Samaritan Award honors those who selflessly volunteer to help others. The President’s Medallion recognizes individuals who exemplify Miami’s values and Love and Honor.
