MUPD K-9 Figo awarded President's Medallion for outstanding service to the Miami community

Figo honored on his retirement from the MUPD

k9-figo-and-officer-hibbard-poseMiami University President Greg Crawford honored Miami University Police Department (MUPD) K-9 Figo with the President’s Medallion for outstanding service to the Miami community.

Crawford thanked Figo for “keeping the Miami community safe over the past seven years,” in a simple ceremony earlier this week.

K-9 Figo, a vital part of MUPD since 2013, is retiring this month. A Belgian Malinois, Figo joined the department as Miami’s explosive detective canine working with MUPD Officer Keith Hibbard.

Hibbard and K-9 Figo primarily patrol Miami University in Oxford but are often called upon to assist other agencies and respond to call outs to assist the Butler County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad.

Figo will spend his retirement at home with Hibbard.
