Miami in the top 50 of Kiplinger's Best Values in Public Colleges list

Miami University is ranked No. 50 on the list of best in-state values among public universities nationwide by Kiplinger for 2018.

For out-of-state value among public universities nationwide, Miami ranks 36th.

Kiplinger combined public schools, private universities and private liberal arts colleges into a single, comprehensive list of 300 best values. Miami is ranked 152 among all colleges.

Miami has placed in the Best Values list every year since Kiplinger began publishing the rankings in 1998.

Kiplinger’s quality measures, which are weighted more heavily than cost, include the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate. Cost criteria include sticker price, financial aid and average debt at graduation.

Miami ranks 21st among the nation’s public schools for its four-year graduation rate of 66 percent.

The complete rankings are now available online at kiplinger.com/links/colleges and will appear in print in the February 2018 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, on newsstands Jan. 9.
