

2019 President's Distinguished Service Award recipients = exceptional seniors
Miami University President Gregory Crawford honored 18 students whose service through campus life, community service, intellectual and cultural leadership or student employment demonstrate the spirit of being a citizen leader of uncommon quality.
The 2019 President’s Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding students who graduated in December 2018 or January 2019, or are set to graduate in May or August 2019.
This year’s honorees and their majors are:
- Sara Al-Zubi, management and leadership
- Jacob Bruggeman, history and political science
- Hannah Clarke, classical humanities, creative writing, and women’s, gender and sexuality studies
- Katja Diekgers, environmental science
and zoology - Charles Kennick, anthropology and public administration
- Zachary LaValle, marketing
- Jenna Odom, integrated mathematics education and mathematics
- Alex Oladele, computer science
and software engineering - Madison Olds, psychology
- Elizabeth Pfohl, strategic communications and theatre
- Emily Prochaska, bassoon performance
- Courtney Rose, integrated English language arts education
- Victoria Salles, diplomacy and global politics
- Amanda Sargent, psychology
- Jade Smallwood, nonprofit and community studies
- Ellen Stenstrom, creative writing and English literature
- Lydia Yellow Hawk, anthropology and political science
- Megan Zahneis, interactive media studies and journalism
Recipients, who were selected from a pool of more than 40 nominees, were given their award at a ceremony April 14. The award is sponsored by the Miami Family Fund and includes a medallion that can be worn with commencement regalia.
Nominations for this annual award come from faculty and staff across all Miami campuses and are a part of the Student Service Leadership Award program. The President’s Distinguished Service Award was started in 1985.
