DEI Task Force hosts virtual town hall meetings July 13-17

All are welcome to join one or all sessions a series of five virtual town hall meetings hosted by the new Miami University President’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force. Sessions will be held from 4-5 p.m. during the week of July 13.

The task force will share thoughts about strategies to advocate for diversity and equality within the Miami community. Participants will be able to ask questions and provide feedback about current plans.

President Greg Crawford charged the DEI Task Force to consider five pillars for change. Each town hall session will focus on one of these pillars.

July 13 - Dialogue and Allyship

  • The task force will share thoughts about how they are exploring ways to provide opportunities for students, faculty and staff to engage in structured and open dialogues.

July 14 - Cultural Competency

  • The task force will share thoughts about how they are examining how everyone in our community is advancing their cultural competency throughout their time at Miami.

July 15 - Advocacy and Partnerships

  • The task force will share thoughts about strategies to be more effective advocates for our students, partner with the City of Oxford, the Miami University Police Department and the Oxford Police Department.

July 16 - Structural and Resource Support

  • The task force will share thoughts about how they are gathering information in order to be able to reenvision our university structure to enable effective coordination of DEI efforts. 

July 17 - Inclusion and Accountability

  • The task force will share thoughts about how they are exploring recruitment, graduation, hiring, retention and promotion actions for underrepresented groups to ensure that they are fair, equitable and always increasing.
