Cassie Wilson wants employees to think spring wellness events for a fresh start

Steve Harvey written by Cassie Wilson, Benefits & Wellness

Many employees share with me their stories about roadblocks to health. This winter’s weather is just one of the things that sidelined many of our best intentions.

If the weather has sidelined your healthy resolutions this year, be kind to yourself. Release those negative thoughts about missing workouts. Think spring.

Benefits & Wellness invites you to join us for upcoming wellness programs and events. It is never too late to take a deep breath and start again.

Upcoming events:

Walk 4 Seven Challenge (4/1 - 4/8/15)

Make very step count. Help Miami reach 4 million steps in seven days to celebrate the American Heart Association's National Walking Day on 4/1/15. Steps collected in any form will count (pedometer, fitbit, paper logs, mobile devices, etc).  Register and record your steps in your Healthy Miami account to track challenge progress and be eligible to win prizes. Contact 529-3492 for more information.

Also, visit our Benefits & Wellness Web page to view a variety of other Fitness 4 Life workshops and programs scheduled for spring.

Freedom from Smoking classes are now open for enrollment and offer weekly group support for those looking to cut back or quit. Participants have said “when you are ready to make a change, support is available” through this American Lung Association program. Register in your Healthy Miami account, or call 529-3492.

We’re about supporting you

The mission of Benefits & Wellness at Miami is to create a supportive culture of health on campus.  While we offer a variety of activities in fitness, nutrition and overall health and wellness, it is the actions of individual faculty and staff that inspire, foster and grow our culture of health.
