Are you enrolled in the right benefits for you and your family?

by Sherry Schilling, human resources

Open enrollment is a good time to review your benefits and the one time each year when you are able to change your benefit plan elections. Benefits & Wellness is offering presentations on several different topics.

Busting the Health Plan Myths is a comparison of the two health plans offered to Miami benefit-eligible employees. They are the PPO plan and the High Deductible Plan (HDHP) with the Health Savings Account (HSA). Both plans can work well for employees and their families. Attend a presentation to learn more about the plans and review examples in a side-by-side comparison.

Your Benefits…More Than Just Healthcare presents details on the basic and enhanced dental plans, voluntary vision plan and voluntary life insurance.  It also highlights some of the lesser known benefits which are provided at no cost to benefit-eligible employees, such as long-term disability, the employee assistance program, and an on-site health center for employees and dependents enrolled in Miami’s health plan.

Put Money Back in Your Pocket outlines the pre-tax plans available for employees. These include the flexible spending account, health savings account and the supplemental retirement plans 403(b) and 457. Learn how these plans can work for you today by lowering your taxable income and providing long-term savings for the future.

The schedule of the presentations can be found on the open enrollment website. For those unable to attend the presentations, each one has been recorded and the links are available on the website.

As a reminder, open enrollment begins on Oct. 1 and runs through 5 p.m. on Oct. 31.
