Celebrate 11 years with 11 ways to be well

fit-lifeThe Miami Benefits & Wellness team is excited to celebrate 11 years of health and wellness programs at no cost for Miami faculty and staff.  In honor of this anniversary, we would like to share 11 ways to be involved and be well on campus this fall:

  1. Learn. Discover. Explore. Join the 2016 Hike-A-Thon Plus on Saturday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m.– 3 p.m. and "take a hike!" in the beautiful Miami's Natural Areas.
  2. Visit the Phillips Hall Fitness 4 Life center. Grab a workout during faculty and staff hours (Monday–Saturday) and leave feeling refreshed and renewed. 
  3. Enjoy a variety of Fitness 4 Life workshops. From kickboxing to mindfulness meditation, from hip-hop to yoga, and from total body tone to Tai Chi, we have classes to add energy to your day.
  4. Know your numbers and learn how to prevent heart disease and stroke. Get a quick check of your blood pressure at a free campus blood pressure screening.
  5. Kick the habit or cut back with campus offerings of the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking classes and/or visit our health plan at UMR for details on 100 percent coverage of cessation products.
  6.  Visit the Benefits & Wellness Fairs on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Miami Oxford and Thursday, Oct, 6, on the regional campuses. Learn more about Healthy Miami and the Premium Discount Program.
  7. Seasonal flu shots will be available at the Benefits & Wellness fairs on Oct. 5 and 6, and beginning Monday, Oct. 10, at the Miami Health Services Center.
  8. Walk to fight suicide and join the Out of the Darkness Community 5K Walk at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, departing from Millett Hall.
  9. Come cook and enjoy healthy eating with us. Join the Miami Food Day cooking class on Friday, Oct. 14. Register in your Healthy Miami account or call 529-3492.
  10. The TriHealth Mobile Mammography unit will visit the Oxford campus on Oct. 12, Nov. 2, and Nov. 10.fit-center
