Spring into April with upcoming wellness programs

OXFORD, Ohio — Your Miami Benefits & Wellness team is excited to announce two “walk to wellness” programs kicking off in the month of April. Both programs are open to all Miami faculty, staff and students free of charge.

walking-dayTake the Walk 4 Seven Challenge (April 5-12)

Let's Move More! Celebrate American Heart Association's National Walking Day with a Walk 4 Seven Challenge. Let's reach 7 million steps in seven days. Together with the Oxford community, our goal is 14 million steps in seven days. Kick off National Walking Day at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday April 5, at Uptown Park for a 1-mile walk on Miami's scenic campus.

Use your Healthy Miami account to sign up for the challenge. If you do not have an account or you are a student, visit on Thursday April 13, to submit your total number of steps for seven days. Use a step counting device or mobile app or borrow a pedometer through

Hawk Walk post cardHawkWalk – More than a Walking Group (April 4-May 2)

Adventure is out there … join the trek as we travel the world in five days. Weekly HawkWalk sessions meet from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesdays April 4-May 2, and will explore our Earth’s continents and celebrate five different cultural traditions. We’ll learn global wellness practices and gain insight into our own personal well-being.

HawkWalk locations vary each week. Participants will receive weekly emails with a detailed schedule.

Activities for 2017 include Make & Take Up-cycled Musical Instruments, Opening Minds through Art (OMA), Walk & Talk with Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, Miami Fencing Club, and Indian Spice Cooking Demo & Taste.
