GI Bill Resident Rate Requirements

As a public institute of higher learning, Miami is required to abide by Section 3679(c) of title 38, United States Code. As part of these GI Bill Resident Rate Requirements, Miami must charge “covered individuals” in-state tuition and fees to remain approved for the VA’s GI Bill programs.
Examples of “covered individuals” include individuals using benefits under the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship. These in-state tuition provisions do not apply to those individuals on active duty using benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill and Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty.
Think you may qualify? Visit the One Stop’s Residency page for additional information about the various classifications.
Fill out your specific form on the One Stop’s Residency Forms page to apply. You will also be required to submit additional information to the One Stop as outlined on its Residency Application Instructions page.
Be advised that the residency reclassification application, and all supporting documentation, must be received at least three (3) full weeks before the first day of classes of the academic semester for which you are applying.
