Miami University Title IX Services

Dear Student,

You are receiving this letter because a report of sexual assault/misconduct, domestic violence, dating violence, or stalking was made. Please know that you are not alone. The Office of the Dean of Students can help explain the various resources, options, and help you navigate through the process to make these support measures accessible to you. Please contact us as soon as you would like. If the reporting agency is able, they will provide me with your name so that we may contact you to set up a time for us to meet. Supportive measures that are available through our office include but are not limited to:

  • Temporary safe space with the University residence halls (available to Oxford students)
  • Change in residence hall assignments (available to Oxford residential students)
  • Academic accommodations (i.e. change class assignments, extensions, excused absences)
  • Connect you with academic support services including tutoring
  • Change your university work situation, if applicable
  • Provide transportation/parking options
  • Information on a University No Contact order or a court-issued restraining order or lawful order of protection
  • Connect you to student counseling services and other campus and community resources

Miami University is committed to maintaining a healthy and safe learning, living, and working environment and to creating an environment that promotes responsibility, dignity, and respect. Our Title IX/Sexual Misconduct Protocol describes how the University responds to reports and provides information regarding options, resources, and services. A university process does not replace a criminal/police process. The police may be involved and may need to release a safety bulletin; however, your identity will be kept private if there is a bulletin. The Protocol is available online at http://miamioh.edu/campus-safety/sexual-assault/protocol/

Please feel free to reach out directly by phone, email, or in-person if you would like to access Miami University resources, services, or support.

Sincerely,

Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students
