OUR HISTORY

Miami University was one of the first institutions in America to establish a program of intramural sports for students. We strive daily to uphold the beliefs of our founders Margaret Phillips and Thomas P. Van Voorhis by our devotion to a "fun through sports" philosophy as part of an educational community.

The Intramural Program provides the Miami student, faculty, and staff structured sporting activities with an emphasis on participation, fun and safety. Intramural activities are voluntary in nature and each participant is given an opportunity to participate in a sport of their choice regardless of physical abilities and skill level.

We offer leagues, tournaments, individual and dual events for males, females, and co-recreational teams. Intramurals foster a healthy spirit of competition, sportsmanship, and teamwork while enhancing social interaction.

Miami Bound

The Miami Bound Program takes place before first-year move-in day and is designed to help students adjust to new surroundings and discover the extensive variety of health, sport, and recreation activities at Miami University. Students move in early and activities are tailored to help forge strong friendships prior to the start of the school year. Throughout the week, students will meet a variety of full-time staff, which can assist them in building a network of contact to support their wellness goals. Groups are designed to be small enough to create community and develop lasting friendships.
