New majors, a new department, approved by Miami trustees
Miami University trustees at their May 17 meeting approved the establishment of two bachelor of arts degrees — one with a major in data analytics and one with a major in organizational leadership — both in the College of Arts and Science.

Mentorship and collaboration: research making a difference in the lives of Ohio families
This summer Sara Stemen and Leah Janssen, PhD students in Social Gerontology, mentored five undergraduate students working on a statewide nursing home and residential care facility family satisfaction survey that provides data for Ohio's Long-term Care Consumer Guide.

Charitable Words Supports Students
Tom and Maureen Callinan with the Miami University 2015 Charitable Words ScholarsCharitable Words connects nonprofits with internships, advisors and resources to better their impact and best tell their stories. Charitable Words has been a valuable partner in education by sponsoring multiple scholarships each year for undergraduate students who work with older adults, especially at non-profits. This partnership has supported our students in gaining valuable experience and supported nonprofits doing important work.

Gerontology master's students reflect on their graduate practicum experience
