Miami recognized for excellence in design by University and College Designers Association

UCM honored for virtual visit page, history postcards, video and photography

Postcard from the Miamians Make History series.

Miami University Communications and Marketing (UCM) won two Excellence Awards in the University & College Designers Association (UCDA) Design Awards – Print and Digital Competition.  

The UCDA Design Awards recognizes the best of the exceptional design and creative work done by communication professionals to promote educational institutions.

UCM won Excellence awards for the projects:
  • Miamians Make History Postcard Series, integrated marketing category.
  • Miami University Virtual Visit landing page, website-recruitment category. View the tour at https://miamioh.edu/visit/index.html.

The winning projects were an effort from the entire UCM team, said Ali Burke, creative director for UCM. They are “a true expression of collaboration and commitment to concise messaging and creative visuals.”

Four other projects earned Honorable Mentions:
  • Photography: Campus Beauty.
  • Video: John Steele: Heart of Steele.
  • Environmental Graphics: Brand Box.
  • Student Illustration: Miamians Make History Postcard Series.

UCM’s award-winning staff produces photography, video, news stories, publications, environmental graphics, merchandise and websites to highlight and promote Miami's best features.

Along with news and communications, UCM comprises photo and video services; brand strategy and licensing; marketing and creative services; enrollment communications and marketing; web marketing; digital marketing and social media; and executive communications. 

UCM welcomes new vice president and chief marketing and communications officer Jaime Hunt. Currently the vice chancellor for strategic communications and chief communications and marketing officer at Winston-Salem State University, she will begin her new role at Miami Sept. 1.
