Ricardo Averbach conducts concert in Bulgarian Parliment

Ricardo Averbach, director of orchestral studies at Miami University, conducted the Sinfonietta Sofia last week in Bulgaria. The concert, held in the Hall of the Parliament, was dedicated to the anniversary of the publication of the Bulgarian Constitution. Sinfonietta Sofia is the main orchestra of the city of Sofia, capitol of Bulgaria. The program included the premiere in Bulgaria of Aaron Copland's "Music for Movies" as well as repertory by Argentinian composers, as the concert was sponsored by the Embassy of Argentina and Ambassador Guillermo Azrak. 

Averbach is permanent guest conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic in Bulgaria and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Guayaquil in Ecuador, and is also president of the College Orchestra Directors Association.
