About Jumpstarting Disability Access at Miami

New students who have completed affiliation with the Miller Center for Student Disability Services (MCSDS) are invited to join an immersive experience to kickstart their Miami journey. This program is designed to connect students with the Miller Center and cultivate community among incoming students. Over the course of the program, students will become familiar with using disability accommodations in college, while also learning about campus resources. The goal of Jumpstarting Disability Access at Miami is to bridge the transition to Miami University while being a college student with disability(ies).

Students who participate will:

  • Engage in a deeper understanding of disability and the interactive accommodation process
  • Create lasting connections with peers who may share similar experiences
  • Identify appropriate campus resources to help support their academic journey
  • Establish supportive relationships with the Miller Center team
  • Familiarize themselves with Miami’s campus and community

Community and belonging are integral pieces of a successful transition to campus and university life. The Miller Center team recognizes the importance of feeling comfortable managing disability accommodations and centering the experiences of disabled college students. Jumpstarting Disability Access at Miami sets the stage for students to ease into their first year and beyond.
